We are lucky enough to work in conjunction with many people for our business. Not only the producers we buy cattle from, but the other enterprises that we manage. Some farms create this balance though multi-species farming (cattle, chickens, pigs, sheep) all grazing and living together. We have created this balance by working with our friends. We have partnered with a managed-grazing, grass-based dairy, raising their weaned replacement calves from June to November. During those months, their business is in full milking production, being a seasonal dairy, and thus are limited on their pasture supply. On the other hand, we have more grass than our herd can handle during those months. Instead of taking it off as hay, we try to enhance our environment by utilizing more hooves and mouths when we can. It creates a symbiosis of not only animals and land, but we as people and the businesses we run and lives we want to live.
